Drizzle freshly squeezed lemon juice and olive oil over finished salad. If the red onions are too strong for you sweet onions (sweet Vidalia onions) make a great alternative or even some sliced scallions. She used white onions, but I like to use red onions for color. VARIATIONS: Add chopped red bell pepper, green peas, dill pickle. mayo salt + pepper to taste We like to keep our tuna macaroni salad pretty simple and just the way my mom made it. 16 oz elbow macaroni cooked, drained, chilled 1 1/4 cup mayonaise salt to taste 1/2 tbsp ground black pepper 1/2 tbsp onion powder 1/2 tbsp garlic powder. Feel free to substitute with any other favorite cheese styles including marble, mozzarella, or feta.ĭRESSING: Italian salad dressing, mayonnaise (or miracle whip), salt and pepper are combined with the salad to create a simple tangy and creamy dressing. You’ll also need chopped red raw onion, celery and green onion.ĬHEESE: 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese adds flavor. I also used store-bought shredded carrots but these can be shredded easily at home with a cheese grater. VEGETABLES: A bag of broccoli slaw from the grocery store helps to keep things easy. Look for the ocean wise seafood label to make sure you’re choosing a product that considers the best long-term health of our oceans. TUNA: Chunk light tuna in water is inexpensive and easy to add to recipes like this one (I used solid white albacore tuna) ! Grab 2 cans of tuna from the grocery store that are approximately 170g each (different brands will vary in weight). Feel free to use regular whole wheat pasta, rice pasta or other gluten-free versions. Stir together, breaking apart any large pieces of tuna. Add the tuna, celery, pickles, and onions. I used rice pasta spiral noodles because that’s what we had in our pantry. Carefully mix 6 oz cooked macaroni, 2 oz celery, 1 tsp lemon juice, 1/2 tsp pepper, 2 tbsp parsley, 1 oz green peas, 0.25 oz pickle relish, 3 oz red onion, 3 oz tuna, 2 eggs, 1 oz bacon, 1 tbsp Greek yogurt, and 2 tbsp mayonnaise. Whisk together the mayo, mustard, parsley, and paprika, until smooth. This is about 1 or 1½ cups of uncooked pasta. Note Add the peas last and stir them gently. Combine mayonnaise, vinegar, mustard, sugar, salt and pepper in a large bowl. Add the chopped vegetables and fold in well. Cook and drain pasta according to the package directions. Add the relish, mustard, tuna, and eggs, then fold in well. Add in the mayo and seasonings then whisk in well. This family favorite tuna macaroni salad is made with canned tuna, elbow macaroni, bell peppers, mayo, parsley, green onion, and crispy iceberg lettuce. MACARONI: The recipe uses 3 cups of cooked elbow macaroni pasta noodles. Remove the shell from the eggs once chilled, then chop them into small pieces.

Once Iron Maiden had secured a record contract with EMI, the band's manager Rod Smallwood decided that the band needed "that one figure who utterly stamped his presence and image on the band in a way that was obvious enough to make a good album cover." After seeing some of his artwork on a Max Middleton poster, Smallwood set up a meeting with Derek Riggs and asked to see some of his other illustrations, in the midst of which was the band's first album cover. " The Reincarnation of Benjamin Breeg" backdrop, featuring Eddie, during The Final Frontier World Tour It's your fifth birthday, and we've got a very special surprise for you.' 'Oh no,' says Eddie. 'Son,' he says, 'today's a very special day. So five years go by, and there's Eddie the 'Ead, as his parents have called him, sitting on the mantelpiece, when in walks his dad. 'Bring him back in five years time, and we'll probably have a body for him'. "A wife had a baby, but it was born with only a head and no body. According to guitarist Dave Murray the name was also inspired by an old joke: The band's bassist and founding member Steve Harris states that the name "Eddie" comes from the original mask being referred to as "The Head", which sounded like "Ead" in the band members' London accent. After this initial incarnation, Beazley constructed a larger mask out of fibreglass, equipped with flashing eyes and the ability to release red smoke from its mouth. At the end of their live set, during the "Iron Maiden" song, a fish tank pump was used to squirt fake blood out of the mask's mouth, which typically covered their then-drummer Doug Sampson. According to Beazley, the original mask was a papier-mâché mould of his own face, which was then used in the band's backdrop, consisting of lights and the band's logo. The first version of Eddie was a mask made by an art student who was friends with Dave "Lights" Beazley, then in charge of lighting, pyrotechnics and other effects for Iron Maiden's live show. Although he is occasionally described as "zombie-like" in the press, Eddie assumes a different guise relating to the themes of individual albums and their corresponding world tours, and has appeared as a cyborg, an Egyptian mummy and a lobotomised mental patient, amongst others. Originally a papier-mâché mask used in Iron Maiden's stage backdrop, the band transferred the name "Eddie" from the mask to an illustration by Derek Riggs, which was used as the band's debut album cover. On top of this, Eddie features in all of the band's concerts, as well as in the first-person shooter video game, Ed Hunter, the mobile game, Iron Maiden: Legacy of the Beast and a pinball game with the same name in 2018. He is a perennial fixture of the group's artwork, appearing in all of their album covers (as well as most of their singles) and in their merchandise, which includes T-shirts, posters and action figures. Eddie (also known as Eddie the Head) is the mascot for the English heavy metal band Iron Maiden. Ultima Online (1997) Those horses are peeking over the wall of the roofless house. It's hard to gauge accurately how many active players SubSpace has across all the fan servers, but you'll definitely have no trouble finding a crowd. Arguably the definitive version, SubSpace Continuum, is available for free on Steam and the security improvements have made it a requirement in almost all popular private servers. Nonetheless, the players that did pick it up loved it enough to ensure its longevity.Įven after the official client was discontinued and the servers shut down, custom clients - which even improved on the original's cheat prevention - and fan-run servers kept the game up and running uninterrupted since it was released. Despite featuring revolutionary physics simulation and complex multi-faceted gameplay, SubSpace failed to become a commercial success. Virgin Interactive picked up that prototype and reworked it into what became SubSpace, another precursor to what MMOs have become today. Developed in 1995 not as a commercial product but rather as a test project to study latency over the crummy internet connections of the era, it turned out that the game is actually, well, good. One of the earliest space shooters, SubSpace has that sort of odd grassroots history that was very much a product of its time - stuff like this just can't happen in the video game industry anymore. Notorious for the same brand of unforgiving difficulty as many games from this era are known for, poorly created characters and unideal stat distributions could doom your adventure to failure even before you begin. Visually simple by modern standards, the 2D MMORPG still has complex gameplay mechanics and features, and practically invented the practice of instancing in multiplayer games. In its current state, The Realm Online is run by Rat Labs, and features a Free-To-Play server which brought active player numbers back up to the peak it reached during its heyday. Since then, ownership and operation of The Realm jumped from company to company. By some definitions a graphical MUD, Sierra On-Line's proto-MMO was groundbreaking, but soon eclipsed by the more technically advanced Ultima Online and EverQuest just one and three years later, respectively.ĭespite being a pioneer in the genre, Sierra soured on The Realm due to the appearance of 3D competitors and offloaded the game to a subsidiary. Recently (as far as the game's lifespan is concerned) renamed The Realm Online, this was an early experiment into what would evolve to be the modern MMORPG. 4K? Particle Effects? Microtransactions? Forget that nonsense, let's go to the tavern. The Realm (1996) Wake up mate! You fell asleep in front of the CRT. With that out of the way, let's jump right into the top longest running games, in no particular order. If anything, they'd deserve their own article. There are tons of them, many of which have been up and running for even longer than the oldest game on this list, and they're also less resource intensive to maintain. If any of these titles spark an old memory that you'd love to relive, there's nothing holding you back - and we do suspect a lot of you who played some of these might be actively doing so today.īefore we proceed, you might note the lack of MUDs (multi user dungeons) on the list - this isn't because we don't consider them valid or 'real games' or other nonsense like that, but because including them would feel a bit like cheating. No, dear reader, this time we're not going to talk about whether or not gaming was really better in the past instead we invite you on a stroll down memory lane - but this isn't your regular nostalgia fueled reminisce, as the decade-old games on this list are still going strong today. There was a time, however, when things were different. Live-service games maximize microtransaction revenue with long-term and frequent content updates, meanwhile the AAA machine never stops churning and the profit and popularity surge of a sequel is tantalizing for large publishers. Video games are sort of stuck in a kind of temporal limbo nowadays. On the negative side, critics were having issues with the awful handling and very low speed of old Porsche cars that were present in the game. Players were given the option of playing the single-player campaign, and it became one of the greatest it’s for the game manufacturing company, EA. The game consisted of notable vehicles made by the German automaker. It was one of the most popular racing games of the time, resulting from a 20-year exclusive deal between EA and the car manufacturing company Porsche. Need For Speed: Porsche Unreleased (2000)Īs it is quite clear by the name, Need for Speed: Porsche Unreleased was the franchise’s first game that was completely focused on a particular sports car brand. It also launched a Getaway mode where you must dodge the police and escape within time limits. The game also featured a damage system which means if your car gets damaged, then it will lose its maneuverability and speed. The game features a single-player mode, and it also allowed gamers to buy cars directly. Most of the tracks of this game are similar to the Hot Pursuit version of Need For Speed, but they did launch new modes in the game. The next game on the list is Need For Speed: High stakes which was launched in 1999 for Windows and Playstation. Moreover, the game was released on March 25, 1998, and was compatible with PC and PlayStation. In the game, cops were arranging roadblocks, busting tires using spike straps, and issuing tickets to stop any illegal race going on in the City. However, the concept that made this game a hit was the Pursuit system, which added cop cars into the game. The game also made a very noticeable improvement in physics, and the tracks were revised from NFS 2 and were added to the game. The graphics were good enough to satisfy Sony to use the game as a display for what the PlayStation games can achieve. Need for Speed 3 Hot Pursuit was the best reply to all the critics who were complaining about the graphics of Need For Speed 2. Moreover, the game was released on March 31, 1997, and was compatible with PC and PlayStation. Unfortunately, the game doesn’t perform well on the PlayStation because of its bad graphics, making it hard to appreciate its unique vehicle collection. The game featured some of the most popular cards of that time, including McLaren F1, Ferrari F50, and even some unconventional picks in the form of cars like Ford GT90 and Isdera Commendatory 112i. It came up with unique courses that helped the game to gain a much-needed personality. It ditched the generic highway racing shown in the first Need for Speed game. One of the most awaited releases in the series Need For Speed 2 came up with a completely new concept. Moreover, the game was released on August 31, 1994, and was compatible with DOS, 3DO, PlayStation, and Sega Saturn. Not only this, every vehicle was having a very good interior and looks very much similar to its real-life counterpart. While the game was not completely perfect, it managed to leave a mark because of various aspects.įirst, it contains a huge number of licensed vehicles from the most popular brands, which was a rarity at that time. This game offers a thrilling high-speed adventure to players using the flashiest sports car they could buy using in-game money. The franchise’s first game, “The Need For Speed,” was initially only made compatible with a 3DO gaming console. We have also mentioned the devices on which these games are compatible. Here’s a detailed collection of all the Need for Speed games in order of their release date. In this post, we will be listing all the Need for Speed games in the order they were released. Considering the racing franchise releasing a new game after almost every one or two years for the last two decades, they are very keen on highs and lows. x= refers to the column to use as your x-axis.In the example above, you only passed in three different variables: Let’s now create a basic scatter plot using the Seaborn relplot function: # Creating Your First Seaborn Plot However, there are actually over twenty-five different parameters to help you customize your plot! In the code block above, seven parameters of the relplot() function are described. Kind='scatter', # Either 'scatter' or 'line' Size=None, # A grouping variable to define the size of data pointsĭata=None, # The input data structure, such as a DataFrame Hue=None, # A grouping variable to use to color data points Y=None, # The variable to use as the y-axis X=None, # The variable to use as the x-axis Let’s take a look at some of the arguments the function provides: # A highlight of the parameters of the sns.relplot() function It provides a high-level wrapper to create scatter plots and line plots. The function technically lets you create more than scatter plots. Seaborn lets you create relational plots using the relplot() function. In this section, you’ll learn how to create your first Seaborn plot – a scatter plot. In the next section, you’ll learn how to create your first Seaborn plot: a scatter plot. head() method to return the first five records in the dataset. # species island bill_length_mm bill_depth_mm flipper_length_mm body_mass_g sex Because Seaborn works closely with Pandas, we can import the dataset directly as a DataFrame: # Loading a Sample DataFrame We’ll use the 'penguins' dataset throughout this tutorial. This function is aptly-named as load_dataset(). Seaborn comes with a function to load datasets built into the library. Let’s load all the libraries we’ll need: # Import libraries However, since Seaborn is built on top of Matplotlib, you’ll need some of the features to customize your plot. It may seem redundant to need to import Matplotlib. In order to follow along, you’ll need to import both pandas and matplotlib.pyplot. For example, the datasets have unique statistical attributes that allow you to visualize them. These datasets are built deliberately to highlight some of the features of the library. To follow along with this tutorial, we’ll be using a dataset built into the Seaborn library. If this code runs without a problem, then you successfully installed and imported Seaborn! Let’s get started with using the library. Conventionally, the alias sns is used for Seaborn: # Importing Seaborn Once the installation is complete, you can import seaborn in your Python script. The package installer will install any dependencies for the library. To install Seaborn, simply use either of the commands below: # Installing Seaborn Seaborn can be installed using either the pip package manager or the conda package manager. Check it out now! Installing and Loading Seaborn in Python This post is part of the Seaborn learning path! The learning path will take you from a beginner in Seaborn to creating beautiful, customized visualizations. It aims to let you understand your data easily, finding nuances that may otherwise not be apparent.
The Lewis structure of BeF 2 ( Figure 7.15) shows only two electron pairs around the central beryllium atom. Other interactions, such as nuclear-nuclear repulsions and nuclear-electron attractions, are also involved in the final arrangement that atoms adopt in a particular molecular structure.Īs a simple example of VSEPR theory, let us predict the structure of a gaseous BeF 2 molecule. We should understand, however, that the theory only considers electron-pair repulsions. VSEPR theory predicts the arrangement of electron pairs around each central atom and, usually, the correct arrangement of atoms in a molecule. The electrostatic repulsion of these electrons is reduced when the various regions of high electron density assume positions as far from each other as possible. The electrons in the valence shell of a central atom form either bonding pairs of electrons, located primarily between bonded atoms, or lone pairs. The VSEPR model assumes that electron pairs in the valence shell of a central atom will adopt an arrangement that minimizes repulsions between these electron pairs by maximizing the distance between them. Valence shell electron-pair repulsion theory (VSEPR theory) enables us to predict the molecular structure, including approximate bond angles around a central atom, of a molecule from an examination of the number of bonds and lone electron pairs in its Lewis structure. Consequently, molecules with these geometries always have a nonzero dipole moment.Figure 7.14 Bond distances (lengths) and angles are shown for the formaldehyde molecule, H 2CO. Due to the arrangement of the bonds in molecules that have V-shaped, trigonal pyramidal, seesaw, T-shaped, and square pyramidal geometries, the bond dipole moments cannot cancel one another. Consequently, the bond dipole moments cannot cancel one another, and the molecule has a dipole moment. Although a molecule like CHCl 3 is best described as tetrahedral, the atoms bonded to carbon are not identical. In molecular geometries that are highly symmetrical (most notably tetrahedral and square planar, trigonal bipyramidal, and octahedral), individual bond dipole moments completely cancel, and there is no net dipole moment. Other examples of molecules with polar bonds are shown in Figure 2.2.9. Hence the vector sum is not zero, and H2O has a net dipole moment. (b) In H2O, the O–H bond dipoles are also equal in magnitude, but they are oriented at 104.5° to each other. Their vector sum is zero, so CO2 therefore has no net dipole. (a) In CO2, the C–O bond dipoles are equal in magnitude but oriented in opposite directions (at 180°). This charge polarization allows H 2O to hydrogen-bond to other polarized or charged species, including other water molecules.įigure 8 How Individual Bond Dipole Moments Are Added Together to Give an Overall Molecular Dipole Moment for Two Triatomic Molecules with Different Structures. We expect the concentration of negative charge to be on the oxygen, the more electronegative atom, and positive charge on the two hydrogens. Thus a molecule such as H 2O has a net dipole moment. In contrast, the H 2O molecule is not linear (part (b) in Figure 2.2.8) it is bent in three-dimensional space, so the dipole moments do not cancel each other. As a result, the CO 2 molecule has no net dipole moment even though it has a substantial separation of charge. Because the two C–O bond dipoles in CO 2 are equal in magnitude and oriented at 180° to each other, they cancel. Each C–O bond in CO 2 is polar, yet experiments show that the CO 2 molecule has no dipole moment. Such is the case for CO 2, a linear molecule (part (a) in Figure 2.2.8). If the individual bond dipole moments cancel one another, there is no net dipole moment. The dipole moment of a molecule is therefore the vector sum of the dipole moments of the individual bonds in the molecule. Mathematically, dipole moments are vectors they possess both a magnitude and a direction. In more complex molecules with polar covalent bonds, the three-dimensional geometry and the compound’s symmetry determine whether there is a net dipole moment. You previously learned how to calculate the dipole moments of simple diatomic molecules. the resort dont control the noise of other guests. but i didnt realize that we were located in a cottage with other different cottages intended for big groups so i was not able to sleep well because its very noisy. since it is raining staying in a non-airconditioned room is not a problem at all. since we dont have a resrervation we have limited options there are 2 rooms left 1 airconditioned room with 1 bed and 1 room with electricfan that has 3 beds so we just chose the electricfan room since we are a group of 6 and it is more spacious. i thought they dont have rooms for an overnight accomodation but luckily they have. i saw Bato springs and i love nature so i decided to check the place. We attended a wedding at a nearby resort and we decided to spend the night in the area and searched for a place. Luckily the locals are more than willing to help. Overall, a very nice stay although it is much harder to find even though we used Waze, it pointed us to a wrong direction. They have a lifeguard on duty but he's on duty for only a certain time of the day so if you have kids with you, better watch them yourself especially if they plan to still go swimming after 10pm. The pools only have cold water (unlike in Hidden Valley) but they are very refreshing and you can just relax in the cool water all day and just listen to the birds singing. It's not five star cooking but it's pretty decent. They also have their own kitchen where you can order food for a reasonable price since the serving is quite large. It is not that expensive, considering that we paid only 5,000php for the air conditioned room and it has a capacity of 12 people (though the people on the room next to ours had the same room and rate and there were at least 15 people in their party) so they are not very strict about that as long as maybe you don't ask for extra pillows and blankets. Went there last week with my family, and I must say it is worth every penny. |
